My friend and I were thinking about starting a children furniture business that makes kids storage bins…table and chairs and possibly toddler beds. (we went to college for carpentry and furniture) Would you prefer to buy something that’s high quality made here in Canada or the US even if you’d have to pay a few bucks more? Or would you prefer to buy mass produced items from overseas for a better price? Please don’t get me incorrect…I’m not trashing items that are coming from overseas, but I am just wondering what people would prefer.

Given that kids grow out of their furniture so quick, I really wouldn’t pay extra money for “excellent” furniture. Sorry. Besides, I wouldn’t count on being able to hand it down to my kids, since their tastes will probably be completely different from mine. Also, lots of families with small kids don’t have a lot of money anyway, so I doubt people would pay for excellent furniture when they have to spend money on diapers.

I would much rather have Ikea furniture. Kids grow So quick and they will just as soon grow out of. I wouldn’t buy anything that’s a bit more expensive. The one thing i have been looking for is a cute kids solid wood coat rack. That i would pay a small more for. :)

Ideally I would prefer excellent, well made furniture but would buy the mass produced furniture because its cheaper. Its children’s furniture I don’t need something that’s gonna last forever considering children grow quick. The way our economy is right now I cant afford a few extra bucks for furniture. Probably would look into used before new anyways.

I would buy the well made furniture. Yes they do grow out of it quickly, but I would rather have something well made. I would rather spend my money on something that will out grow them then have it break in a week.

For me, it’s not about where it comes from, but I spend more to get things made without toxic ingredients and ones that are wooden or glass (depending on the item of course) instead of plastic. But I don’t have a ton of money, so I have to buy the cheap plastic crap quite a lot of the time, unfortunately.
